About The Artist Nancy is a Native Southern Californian "Valley Girl" who grew up in North Hollywood. When her two sons were pre-teens, she moved to Orange County and went back to work as a marketing and advertising executive. Her artwork was relegated to part time, or hobby status.
Not any more.
She now lives in Laguna Woods, California and works on her art and writing full time.
Gallery Nancy has previously worked with fabric sculptures, and tapestries; but today enjoys the mystical quality that emits from her newest art form, these three-dimensional primitives.
She uses found objects from nature to accessorize the art, and enjoys experimenting with texture and color. The goal is to create compelling pieces that have a striking quality, and provoke emotion. Each piece is unique, distinctively named, and one of a kind. A recent collection of 10 pieces can be seen gracing the walls of the Newsome-Harlow Wine Lounge. For a peek, go to the gallery.
Writing Nancy's fiction writing began with short stories, until one of them "Fate Carries Its Own Fate," insisted on becoming a novel. It received the first place award in the San Diego Book Awards, unpublished novel category, in June 2010. She has two short stories "The m&m's" and "The Lois and Clark Affair," published in an anthology called She Writes. "The Lois and Clark Affair" was also published in Art Times. Her stories, "The m&m's" and "Like The Flies on the Patio" were finalists for Glimmer Train short story contests, and "Garage Sale Confidential was a finalist in a past San Diego Book Awards.
Her novel and collection of short stories are ready for publication. To sample some of her creative fiction, visit the writing section. |
